A Sense of Belonging

Rhode Island. For such a small state it has a large place in my heart. Ever since I left I have been longing to return. So, I'd thought I would share with you my home away from home, and some of the memories I have brought back with me from this beautiful state.

One of my most fondest memories of R.I was the historic Newport Mansions. These homes were gigantic!! They were beautifully landscaped and wonderfully decorated.

This pink house above is called "The Elms" I took a tour, and inside was a large marble staircase, and hanging crystal chandaliers. The rooms were decorated with French influence, and the original furniture was well preserved. My sister and I enjoyed wandering away from the tour group inside the tiny passageways between the rooms, until we got lost...

Then, came the best part of the trip: Meeting the crew of the F/V Northwestern. When I found the crew was coming close enough I could drive to meet them, I could never have passed up the opportunity!

After autographs, hugs, pictures, and Edgar making fun of me for my nervousness, I stood in awe as I watched the crew carry on signing autographs. Matt was nice enough to pose for a few pictures for me, and Edgar remarked "You're still here?". It was an amazing day overall

The last stop on our trip was Warwick. After getting lost in a very rundown looking part of town, we arrived tired at a local hot dog place, Cosmics. Needless to say the food was AMAZING! We quickly befriended the owners, and went there the next day for....free TACO PIZZA! Yum!

Then, it was over the bridge and goodbye Rhode Island. Somehow, I never felt I left. Rhode Island left a part of itself inside me, and there is no doubt I will return in the near future. Until next time, home away from home!

Till next time....
